Educators
If you teach and would like to require or recommend any of our books as course readings, your options are somewhat limited by the fact that the format of several of Edward T. White's books does not allow for retailing by Amazon or other major booksellers and by the fact that ArchiBasics is a small-scale publisher without the resources (such as a warehouse) of a major publisher, so cannot sell books on speculation or take back unsold copies. That said, you have several options:
- Direct Orders: Provide your students the URL link to the particular book you intend to use so they can place their own orders. Consider sending an email to students registered for your course a week or two before the first class session containing ordering information so they can place orders and receive the book in time for the start of the semester. Since students often register at the last minute, ArchiBasics can provide a .pdf copy of the introduction and first chapter of any book, upon request, that you can make available for your students to read online (by posting to a course website or a service such as Blackboard) while awaiting delivery of their copies. We also suggest keeping a couple copies on the reserve shelf of your school's library.
- Bookstore Orders: If you prefer to stock any of our books at your campus bookstore, please ask the bookstore manager contact us to discuss how we might make that happen. The print-on-demand house we use, Lulu, does offer volume discounts starting at 15 copies. See http://www.lulu.com/create/volume-discounts. ArchiBasics can also work with your bookstore to arrange making the book available through their regular custom "course pack" publishing functions.
- eBooks: ArchiBasics books are not currently available as eBooks. Due to their graphics and the design nature of their content, we feel that students who keep a paper copy at hand, on which to make notes and scribble in the margins, will learn more effectively. That said, ArchiBasics can do an eBook edition, and invites any instructor who prefers one to contact us to discuss their needs.
Returns: As noted above, ArchiBasics does not maintain an inventory of books and canot accept returns. However, any book whose printing or binding are defective may be returned to the printer for replacement only, per http://www.lulu.com/about/legal#returns.
Customer Service: Please contact us and we will do our best to meet your needs.
